Frank's Christmas letter
And yet again Christmas time is upon us and even though I already can't bear the thought of it,
I still find I didn't drink remotely enough mulled wine this year. Quite drunk this year had already
started. I do remember vividly, how I celebrated New Year with Dani and a bunch of Austrian on
the Campo in Siena. The train journey back at eight o'clock in the morning was hard! It followed
yet another few months of my existence as stern nurse Frank, but luckily it ended for an employment at
the university of Jena.
In-between was August and my interlude as news editor at Radio Energy in Leipzig. I did have
to leave my cousin's apartment at 4.30 AM, but I had the entire heat of the afternoon to relax,
read books and look for furniture for the first apartment of my own. The house-warming of my fabulous new
flat was a most brilliant party and contrary to my birthday party in Little Storkau, everyone found
their way straight off.
The most important event, which accompanied me the whole year, was of course my olde Dr. Lutz.
Even if he gets on my nerves ever so often, I cannot imagine my life without him anymore and really
don't want to either.
And what have I learnt this year? Swedish for one thing. Jag talar litten svenska. But also that
life isn't as simple as it should be. Many things weigh heavily, cannot be solved at short hand or
planned at long hand, nobody will give you guarantees and valid promises do not exist. But
you can also let yourself drift without sinking. That's what I learnt this year: live with things
you cannot change, but change what breaks you.
You all have some great holidays, let your soul dangle, as we say, and drink on the New Year.
I hope to see you really soon, the latest in June for my birthday when we shall repeat the
house-warming party.
